Mental whirlwind,
Was sent into a tailspin,
Destroying buildings and killing civilians
On the way down.
The plane exploded on impact,
But my body remained intact,
And I stood up and tried to walk away from the wreckage,
But I could not, my feet stuck in black tar.
And so, doomed to stand there, slow motion,
I admired the wreckage I had caused,
The buildings crushed, the people killed;
I looked upon the destruction with a sadness so great,
That to save my sanity,
I turned the sadness into emptiness,
The emptiness into apathy,
And I watched while everything burned away.
I watched the fires get higher,
Until the black tipped flames touched clouds;
I could feel the heat but was not physically burned,
And so I stood there until my body turned into rock,
I am a statue preserving a time long gone.
